This page documents how our ROI calculators work — the formulas behind every workflow, the assumptions we use, and the industry research that informs our benchmarks.

Our Approach

Every ROI calculator on automate-it.dev uses a transparent, reproducible formula tailored to the specific workflow. Our calculations combine three elements:

  • Industry benchmarks — processing times, error rates, and cost data from published research
  • Workflow-specific variables — volume, frequency, and complexity parameters unique to each automation
  • Configurable parameters — automation rate and hourly cost that you can adjust to match your situation

The core output is hours saved per month, which is then converted to monetary savings using your hourly rate. All calculators also factor in implementation cost to show ROI payback period.

Important: All calculations are estimates based on industry averages. Your actual results will depend on your specific processes, team size, tools, and implementation quality. Use these numbers as a starting point for evaluating automation potential.
